McDonald’s Balmoral

Project Overview

Updated 12 May 2009

McDonald’s has applied for resource consent to develop a 24-hour restaurant and Drive Thru in Balmoral, Auckland.

The proposed site is 1-5 Wiremu Street, is on the corner of Balmoral and Dominion roads. The site is zoned for business in the Auckland City Council District Plan and is currently occupied by Living Edge Interiors.

The proposed restaurant is single-storey building with 159 seats, which is about the same size as the McDonald’s at Panmure. Plans include a McCafé, conservatory eating area, indoor party rooms, a Playland and Drive Thru.

The application was publicly notified in July 2007 and 838 submissions were received, plus 39 late submissions. The next step in the consent process is a public hearing, which the council has scheduled for early June.

The council has set aside six hearing days, and two overflow days as outlined below:

Monday 8 and Tuesday 9 June: 9.30am to 5pm
Thursday 11 June: 1pm to 8pm
Friday 12 June: 9.30am to 5pm
Monday 15 June: 1pm to 8pm
Tuesday 16 June: 9.30am to 5pm

The overflow dates are Thursday 18 and Friday 19 June: 9.30am to 5pm.

The hearing will be held at the Auckland Deaf Society Building, 164 Balmoral Road, Balmoral.

We have been listening to the feedback from the community and are going the extra mile to address issues such as traffic, noise and lighting. More information on each is provided on the Key Facts page.

We welcome questions and enquiries about what we are planning and encourage you to contact us.
